Today is National Day in the UAE. It has been celebrated for the past 38 years on December 2nd. It is a major holiday where most people have the day off from work and spend time with their families and friends to celebrate their heritage. All over town there are parades, fireworks, concerts - happy UAE National Day everyone!!!
Yesterday at the office, coworkers celebrated together. UAE flags adorned the office, balloons in the colors of the UAE flag (red, black, white, and green) filled the branches, and portraits of Sheikh Mo were put on mobiles that decorated the ceiling. Coworkers brought in their children who also ran throughout the building handing out sweets and chocolate wrapped in UAE colors. I also was poured some mini-cups of tea to try at my desk....very bitter tea! It was a great day to see family-life and work collide.
